Words cannot do it justice. You have to see it for yourself.

At MinoFest 2026 we were honoured to host Chidiebere Ibe, as our Artist in Residence. A TEDx speaker, Nigerian Forbes featured medical illustrator, and the globally acclaimed creator of the Black fetus illustration, Chidiebere brought 8 original pieces of art to our conference that stopped people in their tracks.

His work sits at the intersection of medicine, representation, and humanity. For too long Black bodies have been absent from medical imagery. Chidiebere is changing that. One illustration at a time he is reshaping how we see, understand, and value Black life in healthcare and his work on the walls of MinoFest 2026 was a reminder of how powerful art can be as a tool for justice.

We are so grateful to have had his work in the room with us on April 11. It added something to the day that we will not forget.

The memories from MinoFest 2026 are still giving us all the feels.

April 11 was a day we will not forget. The energy in the room, the conversations, the laughter, the learning, and the community that showed up for this work was everything we hoped for and more. Looking back at these photos reminds us of exactly why we do this.

To every speaker, attendee, volunteer, sponsor, and partner who made this day possible, thank you. These photos are a reflection of you and the incredible community you have helped build.

MinoFest is more than a conference. It is a movement. And we are so honoured to be building it as a member of the Black Maternal Health Collective of Canada. Together we are stronger and together we will keep pushing for the change that Black mothers, families, and communities deserve.

Stay tuned for the full conference recording coming May 1 and keep an eye on our page for more content from the day.

And just like that, Toronto Black Maternal Health Week 2026 has come to a close.

What a week it has been. From our Opening Ceremony to MinoFest, Midwife Day, Practitioner Day, our Fireside Chat, the Francophone Webinar, Research and Policy Day, and today’s Closing Ceremony presented by Abiona Centre, this week has been filled with some of the most powerful conversations, connections, and community we have ever witnessed.

We will be sharing photos from MinoFest in the coming days and we cannot wait for you to relive the magic of April 11. Stay tuned.

Thank you. To every speaker, every organizer, every sponsor, every volunteer, every partner, and every single person who showed up this week in whatever way you could. You are the reason this week exists and the reason it matters.

But this work does not end today. Black maternal health is not a week long conversation. It is a lifelong commitment. The data still needs to change. The policies still need to shift. The systems still need to be transformed. And the lives of Black mothers and families deserve nothing less than our continued and relentless advocacy.

Carry what you learned this week into your practice, your research, your conversations, and your communities. Talk about it. Act on it. Demand better.

We will be back. And when we return, we hope to see you there.

Until next year.
