SLAVIC BLOC PARTY (working title)
A showcase of Eastern European music at the Toronto Ukrainian Festival!
This September, the Toronto Ukrainian Festival is hosting the inaugural Slavic Bloc Party, a showcase of Eastern European music that will host delegates from all over the world in addition to 15 artists from Ukraine (5), Eastern Europe (5), and North America (5).
In addition to several showcase venues open to the public, there will be panel discussions, presentations, and networking events on the topic of building bridges between Eastern Europe and North America, and within diasporic communities in Canada and the US.
Leading the charge is artistic director Mark Marczyk (Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Counting Sheep, Fedora Upside-down) with Derek Andrews (Mundial Montreal, Global Toronto), Alex Bordokas (Uma Nota Culture, MIXTO Block Party), and Alicja Stasiuk (Koerner Hall, Made with Pencil Crayons).
