The first All Day Picnic Backyard Ultra event proved to be an outstanding success. Athletes ran 6.3km loops at hourly intervals for a duration of 12 hours. Out of the 35 participants, 8 successfully completed the entire 75km plus event. Several runners achieved distances exceeding 50km to earn their Ultra Runner badge.

Overall winner - Ellen Diemert, Toronto. Men’s winner - Cody Shewfelt, Saugeen Shores

We express our gratitude to the athletes, support crews, sponsors, and particularly our volunteers for their role in making this event a success. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation. We take pride in being part of the running and athletic community. We are already making plans for next year’s event.

What started out as an idea for our little run group to have some fun chasing goals, has blossomed into something more than any of us imagined! We are grateful for all the competitors who will be enjoying this picnic with us.
