4H Open Dairy Show Here are the latest details of this new, exciting show! Each exhibitor must show his/her own 4-H project.

Time: 1:00 pm start with Novice Showmanship

Judge: TBD

Rules:
1. All entries must be completed using Assist Expo by no later than, August 22, 2017. Late entries and any other entry related inquiries should be directed to Morgan Overvest by email [email protected] or by

phone 613-677-8576.
2. Only current and active 4H members will be eligible to show and assist in the preparation of livestock at the Brant County 4-H Dairy Open Show.
3. Exhibitors must supply their own bedding and supplies.
4. Alternate calves will be permitted to be shown in the showmanship class only, provided they are free of contagious disease and have a proper animal ID.
5. Each exhibitor is expected to dress in plain white and wear appropriate, safe footwear.
6. All cattle at the show must have proper ID according to the 4-H project information sheet. Please bring a copy of the animal’s registration paper to help prevent any issues that may arise as a result of calf ID.
7. All general rules of the Paris Agricultural Society which are applicable will apply. Anyone failing to comply with any of these rules will be asked to leave the fairgrounds and will be banned from participating in the 2017 show.
8. Alcohol consumption will not be tolerated as this is a 4H event. Anyone violating this rule will be disqualified from the show.
9. All livestock participating at the Brant County 4-H Dairy Open Show should show NO signs of contagious disease (i.e. ringworm). Calves exhibiting evidence of contagious disease will be asked to leave the grounds. Provided the Brant County 4-H Dairy Open Show has a minimum of 75 participants, winners will be eligible to enter the All-Ontario Dairy 4-H awards classes. Classes:
1. Novice Showmanship – 4-H member age 9 to 11 as of Jan. 1, 2017
2. Junior Showmanship – 4-H member age 12 to 14 as of Jan. 1, 2017
3. Intermediate Showmanship – 4-H member age 15 to 17 as of Jan. 1, 2017
4. Senior Showmanship – 4-H member age 18 to 21 as of Jan. 1, 2017
5. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Showperson – to be determined from the 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes 1 – 4.

6. Junior Heifer – calves born Mar. 1, 2017 or later
7. Intermediate Heifer – calves born between Dec. 1, 2016 and Feb. 29, 2017
8. Senior Heifer – calves born between Sept. 1, 2016 and Nov. 30, 2016
9. Summer Yearling – calves born between Jun. 1, 2016 and Aug. 31, 2016
10. Junior Yearling – calves born between Mar. 1, 2016 and May 31, 2016
11. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Dairy Calf – to be determined from the 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes 6 – 10.
12. Group of three dairy heifers, one entry per club/county
Showmanship Prize Money:
1st - $35; 2nd - $30; 3rd - $25; 4th - $20; 5th - $10;
6th - $10; 7th - $10; 8th - $10; 9th - $10; 10th - $10

Show harnesses will be used this year. All dairy animals will show in one class unless entry numbers warrant splitting the classes.
