Today, we would like to recognize and celebrate Doug Gilkinson and the entire team at Bayshore Country Feeds for their many years of unwavering support of the Owen Sound Fall Fair.

Doug has been a valued sponsor, supporter, volunteer, and friend of the Fair for decades. Whether it's providing sponsorship, helping source supplies, supporting our events, or simply stepping up whenever help is needed, Doug has always been someone we can count on.

Through Bayshore Country Feeds, Doug and his team have remained strong advocates for agriculture and our rural community, helping connect farmers, exhibitors, and fairgoers alike. Their dedication to supporting local organizations and agricultural traditions has played an important role in the continued success of the Owen Sound Fall Fair.

Doug is also well known for his sense of humour. If you've spent any amount of time around him, chances are you've heard a joke, a story, or shared a laugh. His ability to bring a smile to people's faces is one of the many reasons he is so well respected throughout our community.

Behind the jokes and laughter is a dedicated hard worker who is never afraid to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty. Whether it's helping with a project, lending equipment, volunteering his time, or simply being there when needed, Doug leads by example and embodies the community spirit that makes agricultural societies and rural communities so strong.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire Bayshore Country Feeds team. Jeff, Rick, Cathy, and everyone else behind the scenes are always willing to lend a hand, support community initiatives, and help make events like the Owen Sound Fall Fair possible. Their commitment to serving the agricultural community goes far beyond the walls of their business, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

On behalf of the Owen Sound Agricultural Society and the Owen Sound Fall Fair, thank you to Doug and the entire Bayshore Country Feeds family for your friendship, generosity, hard work, and unwavering support. We are proud to have you as part of our Fair family.

A look back at the Owen Sound Fall Fair Beef Show in 2006! 🐂🏆

Pictured here is the Supreme Champion Female, which appears to be a Limousin cow-calf pair exhibited by Daryll Saunders and Andrew McKean, for Top Meadow Farms. Also in the photo are longtime fair volunteer and director Kim Johnston, proudly holding the banner, along with the judge who travelled from Western Canada to officiate the show.

Do you recognize anyone in the photo or remember more details about this winning pair? We’d love to hear your memories in the comments!

While nearly 20 years have passed since this photo was taken, one thing has remained the same — the Beef Show continues to be a cornerstone of the Owen Sound Fall Fair.

The quality of cattle, the dedication of exhibitors, and the support of our agricultural community have helped this event thrive year after year. In fact, last year’s show was our largest in recent memory, with more than 100 head of cattle filling the barn on Saturday evening.

As we look ahead to this year’s fair, we’re excited to continue building on that momentum and showcasing some of the best cattle and exhibitors from Grey County and beyond.

Interested in being part of the Beef Show Committee, volunteering, sponsoring, or learning more about exhibiting? We’d love to hear from you. Visit our website to learn more, and watch for details about this year’s Beef Show coming soon.

Some people volunteer because they have to. Others volunteer because they genuinely care about their community. Stacy Fenwick is one of those people.

Stacy has been a familiar face around the Owen Sound Agricultural Society for most of his life. Growing up in a fair family, he began volunteering as a teenager alongside his parents, Harv and Penny Fenwick, both long-time supporters and volunteers of the fair. Those early years sparked a passion for community involvement that continues to this day.

In 2018, Stacy joined the Board of Directors and has been very involved ever since. From helping to organize the
Kid's Tractor Pull and helping on the track, to lending a hand wherever needed, Stacy is always willing to roll up his sleeves and get the job done. Many fairgoers will also know him as the proprietor of Dink's Sammich Shop, where he's helped keep volunteers and visitors fed while supporting the Agricultural Society.

Beyond the fairgrounds, Stacy is a dedicated community mental health advocate who works tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of others. His commitment to helping people and strengthening our community is evident in everything he does.

Most recently, Stacy has been working alongside Kim Johnston to bring the Poultry Show back to the Owen Sound Fall Fair. Bringing back an agricultural competition takes a tremendous amount of work, and we're excited to see this important tradition return.

We are incredibly grateful for Stacy's dedication, energy, and willingness to always step forward when help is needed. Volunteers like Stacy help ensure that the fair continues to grow, evolve, and remain an important part of our community for future generations.

Thank you, Stacy, for everything you do for the fair and for the community we all call home. ❤️

🐔 If you are interested in helping with the Poultry Show, please reach out to the fair. Stacy and Kim would be happy to welcome more volunteers to help make its return a success.

❤️ It Takes a Community ❤️

While the Co****le Tournament & Barn Dance may only last a day, events like these are made possible by the countless people who generously give their time, talents, and resources behind the scenes.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Van Dyk family for once again allowing us to borrow their antique tractors. These beautiful machines helped create the perfect atmosphere and added a special touch to the event.

Thank you to Stacy Fenwick, Penny Fenwick, Kim Johnston, and Karen Duggan for preparing and serving delicious food from Dink’s Sandwich Shop. The food booth was a tremendous success and helped support the Agricultural Society while keeping everyone well fed throughout the day.

A special thank you to Alto’s Acres and Kevin Reid for providing bales of hay and straw that helped transform the barn into a welcoming event space. We’d also like to thank Bayshore Country Feeds for donating the square bales that became our crowd-favourite square bale couch.

We are especially grateful to Kevin Reid for generously donating the use of his DJ equipment and volunteering his time behind the music throughout the evening. Your contribution helped make the dance a memorable one for everyone in attendance.

Moore’s Meats for helping us keep the beer cold and our patrons happy.

Finally, thank you to every volunteer who helped plan, set up, decorate, sell tickets, work the bar, run the tournament, serve food, clean up, and tackle the countless jobs that happen before, during, and after an event. Your dedication is what makes community events like this possible.

The Owen Sound Agricultural Society is incredibly fortunate to have such amazing supporters. Thank you all for helping create a day filled with fun, laughter, community spirit, and support for local agriculture and agricultural education.

We couldn’t have done it without you.

🎉 What a day! 🎉

Yesterday's Co****le Tournament & Barn Dance was a fantastic success, and we want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who came out to support the Owen Sound Agricultural Society.

The day began with 14 teams competing in a triple-knockout co****le tournament. After an afternoon of great competition and some very hard-fought games, The Finns claimed the championship title, with Team Bag'N'All finishing in second place. Congratulations to both teams, and thank you to all of the participants who made the tournament such a fun and enjoyable event.

As the afternoon transitioned into evening, the barn came alive with line dancing lessons led by Rhonda Laws and the Rowdy Outlaws. Their energy, enthusiasm, and patience made it easy for dancers of all skill levels to join in the fun, and once again, the lessons were a tremendous hit.

The evening also included the draw for our Grand in Your Hand raffle. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets in support of the Owen Sound Agricultural Society, with Kevin Reid's ticket being drawn as the winner.

The evening wrapped up with more dancing, plenty of laughter, and great conversations. One of the highlights of the day was seeing people of all ages come together to enjoy good company, build connections, and create memories. Community events like this remind us of the importance of gathering together and celebrating what makes our area so special.

As our annual spring fundraiser, this event helps support the ongoing work of the Owen Sound Agricultural Society and the Owen Sound Fall Fair. To everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, donated, purchased tickets, or helped behind the scenes, thank you. Your support helps us continue celebrating agriculture, providing agricultural education opportunities, supporting local youth, and bringing our community together through events like the Fall Fair.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and for everyone who helped make yesterday such a memorable day.
