Working first from Arts Court, then from 951 Gladstone, the 50 seat Studio Theatre housed youth and adult drama classes, and showcased New Works.

103 actors appeared on the Studio stage, from 8 companies, in 20 shows, 13 of which were new works, over 2 years, to 4000 patrons.

I came across a bunch of quotes about the Studio from the press:

"Like good rock and roll, raw, high energy, ad ferociously relevant." Tom McSorley, on "Film At Eleven" by Adam Swimmer.

"THE place to see he future of Ottawa theatre." -Tom McSorley, CBC Radio.

For all the the good reviews Tom McSorley gave us, I never met him. I knew the other critics, but never met Tom.

I knew Iris Winston (The Ottawa Citizen) well, and Alvina Ruprecht (CBC Radio) and john Lacharity (CBC Radio).

Neil Hurland gave Film at Eleven a rave review. (Ottawa XPress)

Janice Kennedy (Ottawa Citizen) did not hide her animosity. She once accused me of getting "more media than I deserved." I merely agreed and said "I only send out the Press Releases, your story editor decides what to cover."

Since seeing Jonquil Garrick on Jeopardy, I was inspired to go through the boxes of old photographs and found these from March, 1996. Objects in Mirror May Be Closer than they appear was originally scheduled for a three week run but it was so successful it was extended. L-R is Jonquil Garrick and Jennifer Larkin.

The Mark Gordon Company (MGC) today announced that it will produce and finance a feature film adaptation of the widely acclaimed Broadway musical Come From Away.

Good to reconnect with John Gordon, who directed "Objects in Mirror May be Closer Than They Appear," by Matt Toner. John's direction was imaginative and hilarious and made great use of a funny script by someone who knew intimately the soul crushing routine of government work. His show was so successful, it had to be held over. If anyone has any photos of it, do share them here.

Thrilled to have reconnected with an old drama student, to find she has gone on to be a teacher. I've looked for her online before and when I saw articles about a teacher receiving awards, I figured it had to be her. I reached out on Twitter and we then connected on Facebook. Lee Ann was first a student in After School drama classes, then joined us at Arts Court on Saturday mornings, as well.
