🧡 Happy National Indigenous People’s Day!
The Indigenous People of this land have rich cultures, stories and traditions that are seeped in the rock, water and soil of this land.
We can’t wait to see all of that culture come together in Kjipuktuk in a few weeks!

We're got more good news and Huskies congrats for another rep athlete, U19 Husky Daelon Smith, on his selection for the Indigenous Sport & Wellness Team Ontario U19 Men's Basketball squad for the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) from July 15 - 23, in Halifax this summer. The Games are a multi-sport, multi-disciplinary event for Indigenous youth, between the ages of 13 and 19, from across North America (Turtle Island). The Games will bring together 756 Indigenous Nations, and approximately 5,000 athletes, to celebrate, share and reconnect through sport and culture in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth and Millbrook First Nation. Daleon's a new member of the U19 OG Huskies this season, and this is his first selection to the provincial team! If his rookie season with the Huskies is any indication, Team Ontario has got a lot to look forward to with this great addition to their roster. Congratulations Daelon - light 'em up in Halifax!

SAGKEENG STRONG
Time to feature more participants from our Nations who have been selected to compete for Team Manitoba at this summer’s North American Indigenous Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Today, we draw your attention to a pair of athletes from Sagkeeng Anicinabe First Nation, who are continuing a tradition that dates back hundreds of years.
Kayson Omeassoo-Fontaine is in grade 9 and will play for Manitoba’s age 16 and under (16U) Box Lacrosse team.
Lily Dorie is in grade 11, and made the final roster for the age 19 and under (19U) Box Lacrosse squad.
Not only is lacrosse Canada’s official game, its’ origins date back to the 17th century.
We want to honour that history, along with these two members from the new generation of lacrosse players.
Good luck in Halifax!
