We like to welcome Tiffany Au from Thornhill, Ontario to the Northern Lights! Tiffany will be part of our player development/training team while helping alongside coach Michael Chao on the sidelines.

Tiffany is a multi time medalist at the APA Circuit playing in her first ever tournament back at the inagural GTA Open 2024. Tiffany is a hardworking player and has dreams of turning pro. After being undrafted in this year’s 2025 CNPL Draft, Au is determine to get back into the lab and improve her game to get ready for next year. Tiffany is currently a student at York University and works as a tournament ambassador for the APA Ontario Circuit. She recently accepted a job as an operating manager for the Pickleplex franchise.

Michael Chao: “I’ve known Tiffany for over a year now, and she’s one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met on and off the court. She has so much potential in her game, though she didn’t get drafted this year, she’s going to work even harder to get back at it next year. It was no brainer for me to sign Tiffany Au on our team as she will help get our players ready for this upcoming season and bring the energy from the sidelines.

Welcome to the family Tiffany! Light it up!

With the 34th pick in the 2025 CNPL Draft, the Northern Lights select Graham Hilyer from Port Perry, Ontario.

Graham is a multi time medalist at the APA and a current sponsored player on the circuit. Hilyer is considered one of the OG’s in the Ontario pickleball scene picking up the sport back in 2017. After not making it his first 2 years in the CNPL, he was determined to keep improving his game and prove to doubters that he belongs in this league. Graham works full time at Canada Life Reinsurance as an Actuarial Associate.

Michael Chao: “Looking back at the first 2 years of the draft, I still find it pretty crazy that he wasn’t selected by any of the teams. He is one of the top players in Ontario with proving results to back it up year after year. With my last pick of the draft and seeing him still available on the board, this was an easy decision. He is an ultimate team player and ready to take on any role that can help the team win.”

Welcome to the family Graham! Light it up!

With the 26th pick in the 2025 CNPL Draft, the Northern Lights select Isabelle Tang from Victoria, British Columbia.

Isabelle is an ABSOLUTE FORCE to be reckoned with! Tang is a former high level badminton player, with dreams of becoming a pro pickleball athlete. After not making it last year, Tang was determined to LEVEL up her game to get ready for this year’s CNPL draft. She accomplished her GOALS by being selected with 26th pick by the Northern Lights! When Isabelle isn’t playing pickleball, you can catch her in a classroom teaching kindergarten, the true leaders in our society.

Michael Chao: “I was up all night before the day of the draft. We knew our team needed a missing piece, so I hosted interviews for all the players that have requested. After coming across Isabelle, I knew she was the one. Her attitude and character along side her skill set is what made the decision for Jason and I to select her. She was willing to put in the work and support the team in anyway just for our team to win. Isabelle will be a crucial part to our road to a championship this upcoming season.”

Welcome to the family Isabelle! Let’s go!

With the 18th pick in the 2025 CNPL Draft, the Northern Lights select Danielle Boss from Brantford, Ontario.

Danielle is a rising star ⭐️ in the Canadian pickleball scene! She played in her first ever APA event this year at the GTA Open 2025 and got bronze in the Women’s Pro division. Boss is a former NCAA Division 1 varsity volleyball player out of Boise State University.

Michael Chao: “I first met and played Danielle in a tournament in Buffalo, New York back in January. When we played her and Rizzo, they beat us pretty easily in 2 games. It was that match where I saw that her talent is unmatched. We’re so happy to have her on our team and represent the Northern Lights. The sky is the limit for her.”

Welcome to the family Danielle! Let’s go!

With the 11th pick in the 2025 CNPL Draft, the Northern Lights select Marie-christine Salvas from Drummondville, Quebec.

Marie-christine is one of the top players in Canada making her first appearance in the CNPL. She has medaled multiple times on the APA Ontario Circuit and caught the attention from everyone back in May 2024 at the Southwestern Open in Cambridge. Pickleball ⭐️ by day, pharmacist 💊by night.

Michael Chao: “I first saw Marie-christine play back at the Southwestern Open, and told myself if I was ever going to be a CNPL Team owner, she would be my first female pick. The way she controls the games with her strategic mind is unbelievable. She’s definitely going to be a signed player for the rest of the season on the APA Ontario Circuit no doubt, while helping lead the way for the Lights. I told her I would take French lessons, just to learn more of her intelligence!”

Bienvenue dans la famille Marie-Christine ! Allumez-la !
