Montreal Asian Film Festival

Montreal Asian Film Festival Montréal-based, artist-driven media arts organization amplifying Asian voices since 1995.
13th MAiFF 2026: May 8 - June 13 ✨ The 2nd edition will be in 2015.

Arts East-West is an international non-profit artist-driven organisation based in Montreal, QC, Canada. The Korean Film Festival Canada (KFFC) is one of the core projects under the motto “Where East meets West” since its inception in 1996. KFFC empowers Asian and Asian diasporic arts through film screenings, art exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and publications. We advocate for creative projects

through artistic and cultural exchanges, particularly between Korea and Canada, while encouraging the next generation of storytellers in Asian communities across Canada and beyond.

Overarching these three institutions is our company's focus: to exhibit, discover, develop and bridge Asian and Canadian arts between the East and the West while highlighting Asian diaspora artists and their works. Ciné-Asie was formerly founded by Mi-Jeong Lee, artist and researcher on Asian culture and arts in 1996, and transformed as Arts East-West in 2021. The 7th Edition of the Korean Film Festival Canada (KFFCanada) will take place online from October 29 to November 2, 2020. This year’s theme is "Narrative Beyond Borders: Women Directors of Korean New Wave Cinema." This rich theme will be further examined next year, in Part Two of this series. To further explore the festival’s theme, a conference will be organized.

The Final Semester (2025) | 9 juin

This year, like many other arts organisations, Arts East-West is facing a major funding shortfall. Despite the hurdles, we're continuing to make an impact through the first edition of MAiFF. Our goal is simple but profound: bringing Asian-Canadian voices to local, national, and global stages without boundaries.

And to achieve this, we ask for your support.

Every cent goes directly to supporting artists and the local community.

If you feel like what we've built has value, then please consider donating to our fundraiser.

💫 MAiFF x Goethe-Institut: Family-Friendly Fun + Exciting Art Installation! 💫

ENG: What if an art installation doubled as a safe space for children to play? This year, Artistic Director Mi-Jeong Lee designed a special art installation inspired by the Korean myth of Ung-nyeo's Cave. This interactive installation is both a fun tent for kids, and a special art piece drawing on a centuries-old tale.

Alongside the kids zone, we are also presenting a seedling path installation consisting of various edible herbs and plants. Each seedling resembles one of our cherished team members. Come see for yourself how far they’ve grown since a mere two weeks ago.

If you want to experience these installations for yourself, and you didn’t have the chance to bring your kid to our Opening Ceremony, it will be on display at Goethe-Institut from June 12-14 for free! Stop by for some family-friendly activities. If you’re interested in further events, go to the link in our bio for our special discounted festival pass in collaboration with Goethe-Institut!
