A major throwback that helped shape what is now the MTL Elite Community.

Back in 2019, we had the opportunity to take part in a basketball tournament organized by Amal Foundation and McGill Syrian Students’ Association. The rule was simple: form a team of four to register. Our founder, Hiba, reached out to some of the top Syrian players in Montreal—and just like that, something special began 🌟

The name Elite was decided less than five minutes before our first game. It wasn’t random, it carried memories from Damascus, a sense of identity, and a vision of continuing the Syrian community abroad by building something lasting.

What started as a team quickly became a family. We’re incredibly grateful to every member who has shown up, game after game, and helped grow this community. And we haven’t forgotten those who’ve since left Canada, they played a huge role in building what we have today.

Now, we celebrate nearly 45 members strong 🎉
