It's not very often I get to design arrangements for myself anymore. And that's not a bad thing! It truly warms my heart knowing that arrangements I've made are being enjoyed by others in their homes, in their workplaces, or at their events. It's why I became a florist in the first place. I wanted play a part in brightening people's days and to be a messenger of joy and happiness. But sometimes I forget about how happy flowers make me feel, how I love being able to take my time to enjoy the process of designing, and how much I enjoy having them in my own home!
I had two leftover bouquets from last Saturday's Easter market. Honestly, these bouquets were supposed to go to family, but I forgot to take them with me on my way out the door on Sunday. 🙈 I couldn't bear the thought of them going to waste, so I decided to get some practice in and make something for me.
It's probably been over six months now that I commissioned a couple of pieces from our talented friend .handmade.by.lindsay, with the intention of having them be "my bowls" -- my very own vessels to keep and to use when designing pieces for myself. I hadn't had the opportunity to use them up until last night. To say I was excited is nothing short of an understatement!
It took me over an hour to make this last night, and probably another hour or two this morning just tweaking and finessing. I could have probably gone on doing this all day. Do I have this kind of time to spare? Frankly, I don't. It's been so incredibly busy as of late (hence the quiet on social media these past few weeks). But I made the time. I had to. For me. To remind myself how much it is I am grateful for and love what I do. And to nurture my own creativity.
Is it perfect? Far from it. There are many aspects I can and will continue to nitpick as things I'd love to change about it. But that's another lesson for me through all of this: to be less critical of myself and my abilities, and more accepting of the beautiful things that I can create.
Happy Tuesday, friends! And here's to a great week ahead!
