🇨🇦 25 YEARS LATER 🇺🇸

September 11, 2001 changed the world.

25 years later, many of us can still remember where we were when we first heard the news.

For Canada, it also marked the beginning of a chapter that would see thousands of Canadians step forward to serve.

From the skies over Newfoundland, where the people of Gander and surrounding communities welcomed 38 aircraft carrying nearly 6,600 passengers, opening their homes and hearts to strangers in a time of fear and uncertainty, to the Canadians who deployed overseas in the years that followed, our country responded.

That is what friends do. That is what neighbours do. That is what Canadians do.

More than 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces members served in Afghanistan.

158 Canadians did not come home.

Thousands more returned wounded, some with injuries we could see, and others carrying wounds that are not visible.

We remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

We remember the Canadians who answered the call.

We remember the families who waited, worried and sacrificed.

And we remember the communities that stood behind those who served.

🇨🇦 WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! 🇨🇦

As we begin planning for the 3rd Annual Valour on the Green on June 11, 2027, we’re looking for your suggestions.

Valour on the Green is proud to support the Field of Crosses each year. For us, the Field of Crosses is a powerful reminder of the men and women who served our country and of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Taking the time to remember, honour, and never forget their service is something that means a great deal to us and is an important part of what Valour on the Green stands for.

Each year, we also choose to support another Veterans organisation through our fundraising, along with the Field of Crosses, giving back to Veterans and their families who have given so much to our country.

We already have a couple of organisations in mind for 2027, but before we make our decision, we wanted to reach out to our followers and, especially, our veteran community.

👉 Who would you like to see supported in 2027 and in future years?

We’re looking for organisations that:

• Support Canadian Veterans and/or their families
• Have an established presence right here in Alberta
• Have programmes, services, people, or a physical location operating in Alberta
• Are making a real difference in the lives of Veterans and their families

It can be a smaller Alberta organisation that deserves more recognition, or a national organisation that has a substantial Alberta branch or operation.

Have an organisation in mind? Drop the name in the comments, tag them if they’re on Facebook, or share their website so we can take a look.

We want to make sure no organisation gets overlooked simply because we didn’t know about them.

Our goal is to spread the support as widely as we can and connect with as many organisations as possible, not just for 2027, but for years to come.

Your suggestions will give us a great reference for organisations to consider and connect with in the future.

⛳️ If you're a Veteran who's never participated in Valour on the Green, or know a Veteran who has not, have them reach out to us or add their name to the waitlist. ⛳️

If you have participated in Valour on the Green before, you will receive your 2027 registration information by email later this year.

This post is for veterans who have never participated and would like to be added to the waitlist for the 3rd Annual Valour on the Green Veteran Golf Tournament, taking place on June 11, 2027, at the Medicine Hat Golf & Country Club.

Although next year's tournament is a long way off, the waitlist is already growing. If you have been thinking about participating, or if you know a veteran who has never had the opportunity to attend, now is the time to reach out.

Please note: This is not registration. It is simply an opportunity for first-time participants to have their names added to the waitlist. The earlier a name is added to the waitlist, the better.

If you are interested in participating for the first time, or if you know a Veteran who is, send me a message. We would be happy to add them to the waitlist.

Thank you to everyone who ordered one of the handcrafted commemorative soldier displays from Form-Tech Machining, Fabrication and Welding LTD

Your displays are now complete!

Form-Tech will be contacting everyone who placed an order to arrange payment and pickup.

We'd also like to thank Form-Tech for making additional commemorative soldier displays available after seeing how much interest there was from our community. It gave more Veterans, families, and supporters the opportunity to own one of these beautiful commemorative pieces, and we're grateful they took the time to make that happen.
