Thank you to all those who came in the rain and supported the bake and plant sale yesterday (Sat). In Manitowaning.
Also many thanks to those who picked up their turkey pies yesterday and supported the fair. That makes it so much easier for us.

Did you know?
On the fourteenth day of September, 1948, The Manitowaning Fair Grounds were sold to the Municipality of Assiginack for the sum of $1.00.
STEWART McPHEE successor to the late Wm. H. Hare as President of the Manitowaning Agricultural Society and ARTHUR D. MASTIN, successor to the late Hugh W. McLaughlin, president of the Trotting Association.
The purpose was to have an arena built on the same grounds.

DID YOU KNOW the last horse race on the track in Manitowaning was July 1st weekend, 1988 with 8 heats

Did you know?
In 1974, when the artificial ice plant was installed in the Arena, the Manitowaning Agricultural Society assisted the Municipality of Assiginack in the amount of $6,642.00.

As you can see, the Manitowaning Agricultural Society has been a VERY important part of the community. We need to support it as much as possible.

Found this bit of history.
Did you know: The Manitowaning Agricultural Society saw fit to have a Hydro Service Pole installed on these same grounds in the year 1984?
The Board of Trade (yes there was a Board of Trade then) assisted with 1/3 of the costs and approximately five years later, the Lions club assisted with 1/3 of the costs.

fi you ordered some, please pick up at the plant and bake sale on Sat. June 6, between 9 am and 1 pm. at Twisted Sisters location, (old information booth area) on the highway.

Did you know?
In 1974, what was known as the Board of Trade in Assiginack saw fit to up grade the Race Track on these same grounds. This is a Standard half mile race track and is registered as "Assiginack Raceway". It is a popular track with any horseman that was a driver on this track.
The track weas officially opened July 1st weekend in 1976.

Did you know?
The Manitowaning Agricultural Society was a hundred years, 1876 - 1976.
To celebrate , the Agricultural Society marked the occasion by building the Centennial Stone Gates . This was officially opened the same day at the Race Track.
