Bunka Hashi 2026 is just under three weeks away!

Join us on September 26, 2026 from 10am-6pm at Excite Lethbridge for the Bunka Hashi Festival. $7 at the door, 18 and under free.

This year we will be highlighting dance performances. NCS Minyo and NCS Yosakoi will be performing on our main stage area along with an idol showcase organized by WestCan Idols.

As always we will be holding a cosplay contest, with awards for best cosplay in a range of categories. We are pleased to announce that we will be joined this year by a special guest cosplayer Pocket_SizedCosplay, who will be judging and putting on cosplay how-to workshops (more details to come).

Overdrive Lethbridge FCG will be running a our video gaming area, and will be hosting tournaments, and we are pleased to announce that we will be joined by Treasure Chest Games, who will be running demos for Union Arena and Pokemon TCG, and will also be hosting a Pokemon TCG tournament. We will also have our board gaming area all day, hosted by Fallcon.

And of course we will have our vendor and artist area, Gunpla hanger and other community groups in our exhibitor area.

Bunka Hashi is back for 2026 and we will be holding our annual cosplay contest.

There are a limited number of craftmanship spots and it is recommended to register as soon as possible.

Entering for cosplay skit requires registration with a deadline of September 18, 2026.

Join us at Excite Lethbridge, September 26, 2026 for the Bunka Hashi Festival!

We are pleased to have the Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area Minyo Dancers performing at Bunka Hashi 2022. Minyo dancing is folk dancing, which is a casual, fun dance for folks of all ages and genders. Started in 2011, the Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area Minyo Dancers began learning and practicing Minyo odori together in 2011 for the pure enjoyment, exercise and comradery as retired seniors. The Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area Minyo Dancers have been invited by various organizations to share what we practice and in the past 3 years have become regulars at the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden.

The Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area Minyo Dancers will demonstrate a few of their dances. Audience participation is strongly encouraged so be sure to bring some dancing shoes.

Taiko are a broad range of Japanese percussion instruments. The NCS Taiko Drummers have been drumming for more than 10 years. Most of the songs they perform are based on traditional pieces from various regions in Japan.

Bunka Hashi 2026 is just under two months away. We are planning our biggest event yet with dance and music presentations, video and card game tournaments, cosplay, artist alley, workshops and more.
