A big thank you to everyone who came out today. All of the vendors, artists, exhibitors, our community partners. Our cosplay contestants, the judges, all of our performers.

Also a big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped out this year. Just so many people to thank and we are so grateful.

Join us at the Agri-Food Hub, September 27, 2025 for the Bunka Hashi Festival!

We are pleased to have the Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area Minyo Dancers performing at Bunka Hashi 2022. Minyo dancing is folk dancing, which is a casual, fun dance for folks of all ages and genders. Started in 2011, the Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area Minyo Dancers began learning and practicing Minyo odori together in 2011 for the pure enjoyment, exercise and comradery as retired seniors. The Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area Minyo Dancers have been invited by various organizations to share what we practice and in the past 3 years have become regulars at the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden.

The Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area Minyo Dancers will demonstrate a few of their dances. Audience participation is strongly encouraged so be sure to bring some dancing shoes.

Lethbridge Shotokan Karate

Shotokan is a dynamic, anaerobic style of karate featuring long, deep stances and movements in full extension. The style was named after the first official dojo built in Okinawa by its founder, Gichin Funakoshi and his son Gigo in 1936. Our dojo's presentation will feature both kids and adults demonstrating karate fundamentals (kihon), forms (kata), and basic sparring interactions (kumite). We will illustrate how Shotokan practitioners at all levels and ages exercise focus and discipline while learning body awareness, efficient movement through biomechanics, and management of timing and distance.

Join us at the Agri-Food Hub, September 27, 2025 for the Bunka Hashi Festival!

Chichi Kimono, based in Calgary, offers kimono classes, dressing services, and professional photo sessions. We also sell vintage kimonos, new yukata, and kimono accessories, with sizes available for everyone from babies to adults. We love sharing the beauty of traditional Japanese clothing and making every experience fun and memorable.

Chichi will be holding a kimono dressing demonstration for us and will have a booth.
