Alpaca fibre farming in Canada 🇨🇦

I wrote a blog in 2024 about the market value of farming, and although prices have increased, the problem remains the same. But what has increased, in the volatility of economic uncertainty, is the lack of support between fibre businesses.

It's too bad we do not Stand Together! Now more than ever.

Our #1 seller leads the way: alpaca socks — the warmest feet they'll have all winter. Then the shawl everyone's been asking about, hand-knit hats & mittens, and naturally-dyed yarn for the maker on your list. All from our own alpacas here in Freelton — natural colours and natural dyes, no two pieces alike.

When I first started with natural dyes, black walnuts was an easy pick! We had tons, its loaded with tannins for colour fastness and easy to extract the colour! BUT messy..

Long story short WHY would you dye browns when you have beautiful natural alpaca yarn!?
What is your go-to natural dye stuff?
