📣 ⚓︎ SPOTLIGHT PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT!
⌗401: Butcher's Block, by Breaking Circus

📍Breaking Circus

🗓️ Saturday, October 17, 6PM - Midnight

Presented by Propeller Brewing, Butcher's Block is a 360 degree circus installation taking place at the Breaking Circus Studio. Featuring a city made of butcher's paper, the evening will be punctuated by circus, dance, and music performances, with guided movement interspersed in between. The public will be invited to explore and inhabit this paper city block, contributing to its growth by crafting paper roots that will intertwine and evidence our interconnectedness with each other and the land upon which our city stands. At its heart, it is an analysis of our current arts culture and infrastructure repackaged in a format of cohesive community healing.

🗓️ Saturday, October 17, 6PM - Midnight

The Embellishers turn your everyday clothing into custom works of art on the spot with flash-style embroidery, and a needle-sharp twist of tattoo parlour attitude. They create a live, on-the-spot embroidery experience that transforms personal textiles into one-of-a-kind wearable artworks through playful, hands-on exchange and creative collaboration.

📍Acadian Wharf

🗓️ Saturday, October 17, 6PM - Midnight

Visible Cities is an installation that explores a series of distinct experiences of the city, visually placing them in conversation with one another. In this work I am considering the city both as a physical structure, and an invisible framework, shaped by idiosyncratic social, cultural, and spatial relationships. By pulling apart some of the unseen layers just enough to allow viewers to encounter them, the work aims to reveal the sheer multitude of layered spaces we move through daily, and expose the city as a site of overlapping spatial realities.

⌗307: Re-Homing Pigeon

📍The Green at Salter Sands

🗓️ Saturday, October 17, 6PM - Midnight

Re-Homing Pigeon is a monumental soft sculpture that transforms one of the city's overlooked residents into an object of comfort and care. Constructed as a giant beanbag, this pigeon invites visitors to sit, lean, cuddle, and interact with it. By fostering physical closeness with a bird often dismissed as a pest, the work explores our shared history of domestication, abandonment, and coexistence. Installed near Halifax's waterfront, the sculpture encourages audiences to see pigeons as non-human urban residents and to imagine a city where humans and wildlife are recognized as interconnected inhabitants of the same home.

📍(A) Cable Wharf
📍(B) Cunard Public Space

🗓️ Saturday, October 17, 6PM - Midnight

Off The Hook is an interactive installation featuring two repurposed payphones connected to each other, inviting people to strike up conversations with complete strangers. In the age of smartphones and social media, loneliness and social isolation continue to grow. By encouraging spontaneous, human-to-human conversations, Off The Hook offers a simple reminder of the value of genuine human connection.

📍Nathan Green Square

🗓️ Saturday, October 17, 6PM - Midnight

Since time immemorial, we humans have been fascinated by conquering and utilizing the sea; yet we forget about the lifeforms in it. Who lives under the reflective yet ever-moving surface? Who are we killing if Dartmouth Cove is filled? Please, look closer into Dartmouth Cove: so that we are aware who we are losing if the Dartmouth Cove Waterfront Infill Project actually happened, dumping 99700 cubic metres of excavation materials into the harbour.
