Nocturne: Art at Night is an annual festival bringing art and energy to the streets of Halifax. You are invited to participate in a new creative experience that showcases and celebrates the arts community in Halifax. Note: Nocturne: Art at Night cherche à offrir plus services en français. 📣 REMINDER 📣 Nocturne Art at Night Society's Annual General Meeting (AGM) for our 2025-26 fiscal year will take place on June 15, 2026, from 6-8 PM (ADT).

🗓️ This year’s AGM will be held both in-person at 1113 Marginal Rd, Halifax, and virtually via Google Meet.

The AGM is a time for the membership to contribute to the work undertaken by the organization. During this time, there will be the presentation of annual reports, consideration of motions, and the election of the Board of Directors. Everyone is welcome to attend!

🦺💛 Did you know that Nocturne is run primarily by volunteers? We’ll be at the Halifax Central Library’s Spring Volunteer Fair today from 1-6 PM where you can sign up for our Volunteer List and learn more about how you can get involved!

One of the best ways to support the festival is to come out and lend a hand! We offer different roles and shifts depending on your interests and availability.

Volunteer shifts take place primarily on Saturday, October 17th with 3-hour shifts from 6:00 PM - midnight for our signature art-at-night experience.

If you’re interested in volunteering and want to learn more, sign up for our Volunteer Mailing List on our website or visit us today at the Halifax Central Library!

We’re looking for a Director of Artist Care & Support (Volunteer) to join the Nocturne Board!

Help us advocate for the creators who bring Kjipuktuk/Halifax to life. From guiding artist policy to providing on-site support during the festival (Oct 15–17, 2026), you’ll play a vital role on Nocturne team.

The Commitment: * ~8 hours/month
🗓️ Monthly board/committee meetings
👩‍🎨 Ideal for artists, organizers, or anyone passionate about supporting makers

Nocturne is pleased to announce our call for our 2028 Festival Curator!

The Festival Curator will develop a vision/theme for the festival and will curate the Anchor Project program. Nocturne’s Anchor Project program consists of site-specific installations and performance art activations at sites across Halifax and Dartmouth.

The selected applicant(s) will receive a curatorial fee of $10,000 CAD for development of the theme, selection of artists, and administration of the curator-selected Anchor Project program for the 2028 festival.

Proposals for curatorial teams will also be accepted.

🗓️ Deadline to Apply: July 6, 2026, 11:59PM (ADT)

If you're curious about applying to our Call for Community Groups & Galleries, this post is for you! Swipe or read the full caption to learn more 🌝

WHO CAN APPLY?
✶ Kjipuktuk/Halifax galleries, museums, cultural and educational institutions, community groups, and local businesses
✶ Organizations must be based in HRM and the project must take place within one of our 5 zones:
✶ We welcome Community Groups & Galleries to work collaboratively with an artist(s) or members of an arts organization

WHAT'S REQUIRED?
✶ Respond to the festival theme, Embodied City
✶ Focus on the showcasing of local art and artists, or engage the community through the arts
✶ Remain open specifically from 6:00 PM - MIDNIGHT on Saturday, October 17, 2026
✶ Not require payment to engage with the artwork
✶ Have a venue or prospective venue secured
✶ Be self-funded. Nocturne does not provide funding to participating Galleries and Community Groups.
✶ Have the staffing/volunteer resources to manage your project

HOW DO I APPLY?
✶ Fill out an application form at NocturneHalifax.ca before the deadline, August 1st!

WE ARE ASKING FOR ALL HANDS ON DECK TOMORROW, FRIDAY, MARCH 27TH AT NOON!

We are calling on EVERYONE to join us at the Province House to make our voices heard all together.
It’s crucial that everyone who can make it joins together for the biggest rally this province has ever seen.

When: Friday, March 27, 2026
Time: 12:00 PM (Noon)
Where: Province House (1726 Hollis St, Halifax/Kjipuktuk) Who: All who believe that culture is critical, and who are calling for democracy and transparency from our government.

Let’s make sure the government understands us loud and clear; arts and culture are crucial to this province!
