Evergreen Festival of the Arts The Evergreen Festival of the Arts began in 1981. It has been solely run by passionate volunteers, mainly teachers in our schools and private music teachers.

The Evergreen Festival of the Arts would like to recognize a very generous group of Core Sponsors that provide the operating money and support to give this Festival stability.

The EFA is a completely volunteer run, non-profit organization which relies solely on donations, scholarships and registration fees. We are extremely grateful for their help to provide this enriching experience for our communities for over 40 years.

The Speech Festival days will be Tuesday, April 29th and Wednesday, April 30th.
It will be held at Riverton Lutheran Church.
Our adjudicator this year will be Kate Ferris!

Manitoba songwriter/storyteller Kate Ferris has been performing most of her life, sharing the magic of song and story across the country. After teaching Elementary Music in Thompson, MB for 11 years Kate has appeared at concerts and festivals across Canada, performing with groups as diverse as the Blarney Band, Rodeo Riders, Canadian Content Theatre and Small Rooms, and for 30 years took her Artists in the Schools residencies teaching storytelling with sound effects and movement to almost 200 Manitoba Schools. For 13 years she also was a teller at the Winnipeg International Storytelling Festival. Kate has appeared nationally on television, CBC Radio and as a guest artist on numerous recordings. She has released two albums – “Marie’s Forest” and “After a Slight Delay…”, published “Prairie Girl’s Song” - a book of one of her songs featuring the beautiful artwork of Mary Ann Tully – and a second book “Imagine A World of Friends” - focusing on the United Nations Rights of the Child - is due to come out later this year. Kate is thrilled to act as adjudicator for Speech at the Evergreen Festival of the Arts.

It will be held at Gimli Lutheran Church.
Our adjudicator this year will be Judith Oatway!

Soprano, Judith Oatway, has a passion for singing displayed in her commitment to performance and instruction. Her performances have been described as 'polished and dramatic' Opera Composer Blog. Judith is a voice instructor at the Canadian Mennonite University & University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She also maintains a busy studio at the Community School of Music & Arts at CMU and is a co-founder of the Summer Music Academy in Winnipeg. Judith holds a Masters in Literature and Music Performance from the University of Western Ontario. She is a founding member and Artistic Director of Flipside Opera, an independent arts organization based in Winnipeg. Recent performance include with Millenium Library Skywalk Series, Manitoba Underground Opera, Little Opera Company, Kitchener Opera, Halifax Summer Opera, and Winnipeg Guitar Society. Recent performances include La Ciesca, Gianni Schicchi; Zwei Dame, Die Zauberflöte; and Mother, Hansel & Gretel.

The Dance Festival day will be Monday, April 21st.
It will be held at the Arborg Bifrost Community Center.
Our adjudicator this year will be Brynne Abgrall!

Born and raised in Niverville, Manitoba, Brynne Abgrall started competitively dancing at the age of four, experiencing much success throughout her dance career at an international level. Highlights of her career include attending the Juilliard Summer Dance Intensive, winning Junior World Dance Champion at the IDO World Dance Championships in Poland, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Summer Intensive. These experiences led Brynne to found FORM Dance Convention, Canada’s newest dance convention, featuring a series of masterclasses taught by some of the top professional dancers and faculty in North America. FORM also uniquely includes sessions from health professionals such as Dancer Nutrition, Dancer Conditioning, and Performance Psychology to offer dancers a well rounded and elevated training opportunity. Brynne is currently active in the Manitoba dance community through choreographing pieces for competitive dancers and teaching masterclasses across the city. She is excited to continue sharing her knowledge and passion for dance whenever she can!
