A yearly Literary Arts Festival in Fredericton, NB showcasing authors, vendors, readings, workshops, panel discussions and guest appearances that closes the event off with a spectacular Fantasy Ball. lisher or just a huge fan of all things books! Our festival has something for everyone!

At the Writers of the Realm, we welcome all genres of writing and encourage our local authors to provide a short reading of their books so guests can enjoy/get a taste of their work!

We have interactive exhibits for the book fans, a book-ish scavenger hunt, writing contests and educational panels/workshops that answer those annoying questions in your mind about writing! Our Day portion is open to the public of all ages, with door proceeds going to a local charity. The evening entertainment for this festival is our spectacular Fantasy Bookish Ball! This year, the theme is etherial/celestial, which we are calling the Serenity Ball featuring Music by Maritime Fav DJ Fayder!!

This part of our event is ticketed, with formal attire required, 19+ and sure to be an enchanting evening of dancing, oracle readings, contests, delightful desserts, an interactive royal court cast, and so much more! Tickets for the Fantasy Ball will go on sale Friday, January 16th, 2026!! Festival Portion Runs: 10am-4pm

Royal Guest of the Serenity Ball, beware! Not everyone believes the new King & Queen, or their Royal Court, are doing all that they can for the people!!
Meet the Vigilante, protector of the people and voice of the unseen. He is the moonlight shining in the dark alleyways, always hidden, seeking justice beyond what the royals have shown they can do. You must listen closely and stay alert, for if you believe there is more to do as well, he could use your help to defend the kingdom and the people he calls home from the shadows lurking on the horizon.

Please help us welcome one of our official Serenity Ball influencers!

Wenffyria is a full-time artist, Twitch streamer, and award-winning cosplayer with over a decade of experience and professional training in fashion design.

She has been featured as a cosplay guest at conventions across the Maritimes, hosting panels on garment construction and cosplay craftsmanship while sharing her creative process online through her Twitch livestreams and shop.

She is a lifelong fan of the Fantasy genre and enjoys series like The Lord of the Rings, A Natural History of Dragons, and Daughter of the Pirate King.

We've had so many great submissions come in for our writing contest with Writers of the Realm! Because you've asked, we are extending our submission deadline another two weeks! The new deadline is Sunday, June 21st, for all submissions!

If you write short stories, poems, or short film scripts, why not enter your work? We have two different age groups, youth and adults. See details in the poster below. When Mora met Dother she expected a one-night tryst, but the man she grew to love had a different idea. He intended to keep her at any cost. Even if that meant binding her to a flask and cursing her to grant the wishes of any who held it. Though Dother meant it when he swore Mora would never truly be rid of him, he didn’t anticipate the monster she would become in the name of vengeance.

Revenge was not enough.

Three hundred years later, Mora is eternally cursed, rageful, and haunted by memories of Dother. Since the tragedy of 1994, Agency Division have weilded their authority over matters arcane with relative impunity. We'd like to introduce you to another one of our amazing volunteers! Meet Cassie!

Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, and having lived in Fredericton for most of the last 15 years, Cassie’s love of books was nourished from a young age through the New Brunswick Public Libraries. Today, Cassie can still be found picking up the latest find at her local library or downloading her favourite healing fiction, historical fiction, or manga on her Kobo eReader.

Professionally, Cassie works full-time as an administrative assistant; outside of work, she enjoys volunteering, travelling, curling, and connecting with new people. Cassie spent several years freelancing in the video game industry as a Community Manager and Social Media Marketer for various indie studios in Canada and beyond. Passionate about community engagement, Cassie is excited to be part of Writers of the Realm and to help bring it to life, showcasing the incredible spirit and talent found throughout Atlantic Canada.

Help us welcome Cassie to the team as our official Event Assistant! She'll be working side by side with Rebecca, our Creative Director, making this event most excellent for all.
