Belgian Buckler Symposium – Closing the 2026 Edition
The 2026 edition of the Belgian Buckler Symposium has come to an end, and we look back on a day filled with learning, comparison, discussion, and friendly fencing.
This year’s Comparison Edition brought together different weapons, styles, and contexts — German Sword & Buckler, German Messer, Italian Sword & Buckler, blunt and sharp fencing — allowing participants to explore similarities, differences, and shared principles across traditions.
Through workshops, introductions, the discussion group, book corner, and the tournament, the focus remained where it belongs: sharing knowledge, testing ideas, and strengthening our community.
We are deeply grateful to all instructors, participants, visitors, and volunteers who made this edition possible.
🙏 A Thank You to Our Seminar Instructors
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our seminar instructors.
Your knowledge, preparation, and willingness to share your insights were at the heart of this year’s Belgian Buckler Symposium.
Through your workshops and discussions, you challenged participants to think deeper, compare sources and approaches, and engage critically with their practice. You helped create an environment where learning, questioning, and respectful exchange could truly flourish.
Thank you Aurélien Calonne, Catherine Loiseau, Ulrik Neumann, Janik Puttemans and Sean Wauters for your time, your passion, and your trust in this event.
The Symposium would not be what it is without you.
📖 Looking ahead to 2027
Next year, the Belgian Buckler Symposium returns with the Manuscript Edition, diving deeper into the sources that inspire and guide our practice.
Thank you all — and we hope to welcome you again next year.
