COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT

At NIHON JAI 2026, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for every cosplayer, attendee, volunteer and member of our community.

Cosplayers are there to enjoy the event, express their creativity and share their passion. Wearing a costume does **NOT** mean that someone has given permission to be photographed, touched, followed, disturbed or otherwise approached without respect.

A few important rules for everyone attending Nihon Jai 2026.

• You are welcome to take photographs of our cosplayers, but "always ask for permission first". A simple “May I take a photo?” goes a long way.

• Do not touch a cosplayer, their costume, props or personal belongings without permission.

• Do not follow, crowd, harass or repeatedly approach cosplayers after they have declined a request.

• "Cosplay is not an invitation for unwanted attention. Respect personal boundaries".

• Independent or non registered bloggers, photographers and content creators "will NOT be permitted to conduct unauthorized photography, interviews or blogging activities" at the event. All media and blogging activities must receive prior permission from the "Nihon Jai Organizing Committee".

• Any person found deliberately harassing or disturbing cosplayers or attendees may be asked to leave the venue and may face further action according to the circumstances.

We also expect everyone to maintain responsible conduct online. "Defamatory or deliberately harmful content targeting Nihon Jai, its organizers, participants or partners may be subject to appropriate legal action under applicable laws.

Nihon Jai is a celebration of Japanese culture, pop culture, creativity and community. Let's make sure it remains a place where everyone can enjoy themselves without feeling uncomfortable or unsafe.

Ask before you shoot.
Respect when they say no.
Give people their space.
