Wagga Weekender is flipping the script. Kicking off in April 2026, it’s a bold weekend of genre-bending music and sonic surprises – from
Persian classical to First Nation’s led new work, jazz fusion, electro-acoustic and beyond. Held in
Wagga Wagga’s buzzing Civic precinct with a showstopper in nearby Ganmain, it’s big on talent and
short on pretension – and whether you’re a deep listener or just up for something new, this is your
cue. You don’t need to know the lineup. You just need to listen.

What a line up!! 🤩🤩🤩

September has arrived and we’re gearing up for ‘The Art of Wonder and Consolation’ festival at the Cube, Wodonga 11-13 September. Now is the time to get a festival pass – the cheapest way to see all shows, enjoying priority seating and other VIP benefits across the weekend. You’ll get to hear Bach’s amazing flights of fantasy in the Art of Fugue, rendered in glowing colour by Inventi, the charm of children’s games and imagination in music by Bizet and Ravel with our brilliant Flying Fruit Flies and pianists Grace Kernaghan and Miriam Joy Briggs, a powerful piano recital from Stefan Cassomenos, built around Liszt’s amazing transcription of Beethoven’ Fifth Symphony, and a performance of the profoundly moving Compassion, by singer song writer Lior and great Australian composer Nigel Westlake.

The weekend also sees the Geoffrey McFerran Piano Competition, where brilliant young pianists from all over regional Victoria gather to compete. That's a wrap on year 1 of the festival. A weekend of amazing performances and great company. I'm going to miss you guys.

HOPEFULLY we will back in 2027, and newsletter subscribers will hear it first. Our case is strong, but the festival relies on funding support. Box office cannot pay for it.

In the meantime, I'm gonna sleep for for about a week, refresh, learn, and start plotting for 2027. 🥳
