Please give a warm HWF welcome to author, mentor, lecturer and teacher Claire Thomas.

Claire has written three novels, including her latest release, 𝙊𝙣 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨, which hit shelves earlier this year.

Meet Jodie Stewart- award-winning writer, academic, and someone who’s spent the past two years exploring the fascinating (and sometimes unexpected) relationship between humans and cats.

Her new book, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙖, lands later this month… and we’re so excited to share that she’ll be joining us at Headland Writers Festival later this year.

But if you can’t wait that long, you don’t have to! Join us for Jodie’s book launch at Dulcie's Cottage on May 30 for some feline frivolity.

Brendan James Murray joins the Headland Writers Festival program, fresh from the release of his new memoir, Childhood, published just this week.

An award-winning author, teacher, and advocate for the rediscovery of imagination in both children and adults. Brendan’s latest book reminds us of the importance of a rich inner life.

We’re looking forward to welcoming him to the Headland stage later this year.

VOLUNTEER || 2026 HWF

Our volunteers are the engine room of HWF- we simply couldn’t do it without their generosity, time and heart.

This year marks our 6th anniversary (wild right!), and we’re looking for volunteers to help deliver Headland Writers Festival 2026.

There's lots of different ways you can get involved, and you'll be working with a pretty special crew while you do it.
