Our policy on genAI at events.
Falling for Fiction has always had an AI policy, but we thought we'd make a statement for those who didn't apply this year and assure readers that we pick our EOI forms clean.
For 2026, we had over 150 applicants. We culled over half of those for genAI use. We check every social media platform, websites, book covers, and images used for marketing. We cross check. We run anything we're not sure about past experienced artists. It takes weeks but it's worth it.
We felt that our AI policy in 2026 actually wasn't strict enough and have made the necessary amendments for 2028. Not only can authors and vendors not sell anything created by genAI on the day, but also not be actively using it on their social media platforms, in their marketing, or on their websites. Even though we vetted everyone, this wasn't explicitly stated in the t's & c's. Now it will be.
Authors and vendors found to be using genAI after their acceptance to F4F will be uninvited with no refund. Authors and Vendors found to be selling genAI products on the day will be asked to leave immediately with no refund.
