Our second Book Club at The Greenwood Hotel! 💛📚

Despite clashing with Melbourne Cup, we enjoyed a smaller, more intimate gathering filled with interesting conversations, connection and plenty of laughter!

Our door prize was a little different this month and brought plenty of laughs! 🎁 We can safely say we’ll 100% be doing that again!

And then there was the quiz! Whether you’re scratching your head, chuckling at the scenarios or trying to convince Clare to give you half a point, there can only be one winner! We were delighted to see a familiar face take home the quiz prize for the very first time! 💛

Whether there are 10 or 70 people in the room, The Book Club remains exactly the same: a welcoming and fun space to spend a couple of hours with fellow book people!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a fun evening.

The Book Club week is here!

A week of friendly faces, some who have been before and others bravely stepping in on their own or with a friend for the first time.

Guaranteed are interesting conversations, a bit of fun and usually lots of laughter!

Tonight marks our second Book Club event at The Greenwood Hotel, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you for another lovely evening of books, activities and conversation.

The Book Club is out of office this week!

One of us is staying close to home, while the other is holidaying a little further afield. ☀️

LOVE when your phone brings up memories, especially when they take you back to the spark of an idea that became The Book Club! 💕

A girls’ trip that actually made it out of the group chat (even if it did end up being a two-person getaway!) led to conversations about everything and anything, but especially books, book clubs, author talks and everything in between.

By the end of the weekend, we had sore legs, a technical difficulty involving a swag pole 🤣 and The Book Club was born! 📚

Such happy memories of a weekend that sparked an idea and continues to spark so much joy! 💕

Local Author Spotlight

Matthew spent his 35-year engineering career dreaming about writing a novel.

Recently retired and officially an ‘empty nester’, he has now found the time to pursue his passion and put into practice the lessons learned from his part-time writing studies over the years.

Raised in the Middle East as an expat child and then in London as a teenager, he emigrated to Western Australia in 1994 and has worked and travelled extensively around the state, always observing and seeking out literary inspiration.

The Paths of Warradonga combines many of his life experiences and is his debut novel.

Matthew has very kindly donated three copies of his book to The Book Club. We will give away a copy at each of our upcoming book clubs in November.
