Sometimes we see Kirsty at our Thursday evening Book Club.

Sometimes we see her at our Friday lunchtime Book Club.

And then one day… we saw her at Monkey Mia!

Whether she’s joining us in Currambine, Joondalup, or unexpectedly appearing in regional WA, it’s always lovely to see familiar faces at The Book Club. 💕

Just 10 tickets remain for our special Weekend Book Club on 14 June.

We’ve now split the remaining tickets between our website and Eventbrite, with only a handful available on each platform.

This special edition is a celebration of all things reading. No set book at this special edition of The Book Club.

Join us for discussion prompts, fun book-themed activities, prizes, great conversation and the chance to connect with fellow readers.

If you’d like to bring a book to swap, we’ll have a pre-loved book exchange available too.

The bar will be open for food and drink purchases, so make an afternoon of it at RISQ Small Bar.

We’d love to see you there. Tickets available via our website and Eventbrite.

Our September book choice is getting made into a movie! 🍿

The movie adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel, "THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO," is currently in the works at Netflix!

While not much is known about the movie adaptation, or even its current status, the author did give us an update in May last year.

She said, "Everyone is working incredibly hard to get this movie made, and everyone knows that there is a lot of pressure to get it exactly right. We're all hard at work. We're taking it very seriously, and I give Netflix so much credit because they have such an immense respect for the readership of that book. They want to make them happy."

So, let's hope we finally see some momentum on this long-awaited book adaptation!

“How do we choose the books for The Book Club?”

We get asked this question a lot.

Very early on, we decided we wanted our book choices to be accessible to as many people as possible. We quickly found ourselves turning to the Better Reading Top 100 list for inspiration.

The reason is simple: these books are usually easy to find. They’re available in bookshops and online, can often be borrowed from the library, and regularly pop up on Facebook Marketplace and in charity shops.

We also like to sprinkle in a few new releases from time to time to keep things fresh and exciting, especially when there’s a Perth author we can celebrate and support, or when a book ties in with a movie or TV series release.

Sometimes we’ve already read the book, and sometimes we’re experiencing it for the very first time alongside you.

One thing that is always guaranteed is that we’ll find discussion questions to get the room talking. Whether the book is loved, loathed, or has everyone groaning along together, there’s always plenty to discuss.

Our next book choice is The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife — a Better Reading Top 100 book that is readily available from your favourite bookshop or local library or like the one pictured below at our local Salvos! Display copy secured ✅
