MAKING CONNECTIONS / CREATING AWARENESS: WA’s inaugural Permaculture Festival brings existing sustainability, community and wellbeing groups together presenting them to the public in a rare collaborative life changing event through old fashioned face 2 face celebration of all things worth doing. A full day

friendly relaxed community ‘field day style’ festival to inspire and help people learn about and use permaculture (permanent ecology and permanent culture) based ethics and principles in their lives towards a more sustainable future. The Fest will have multiply organisations participate in an interactive way. There will be displays and community talks on sustainable living practices and participation in practical ‘hands-on’ workshops include food security, healthy living, nature play for kids, systems design, waste management, recycling and re-skilling, urban agriculture, farming diversity, solar passive homes, building resilience and community empowerment. This free festival will provide a ‘field day style’ exposure, introduction and immersion for attendees into all topics and groups in and around Perth, that are focused on community growth, healthy living, sustainable housing, community, wellbeing and agriculture. The holistic and broad brush of Permaculture means this is a fully inclusive event welcoming all walks of life. There will be dedicated areas within the Fest for farmers market type stalls; unique hand made craft and artisan stalls; children’s nature plays area / activities; forgotten crafts and trades; music; and entertainment, plus much more :-) It is a rare event that is all about people and not about company agendas, government policy, sales and profit. An expected outcome will be, through optimism and enthusiasm of a large number of people that potentially leave with renewed energy and awareness to help engineer and build resilience throughout WA.
