The Shimano Big Husky Triathlon Festival 2026 didn’t quite go to plan…

With rough surf conditions and poor water quality forcing swim cancellations, our athletes dug deep, taking on the bike and run with resilience, grit and pure determination. And wow, did they deliver some absolutely unbelievable finishes!

Massive efforts and incredible times across the board! 🙌

To all our athletes, spectators and volunteers - thank you for making today unforgettable. Your determination and spirit is what makes this such a special and unique event.

🚨 UPDATE: We regret to announce the cancellation of all swim events at the Shimano Husky Triathlon Festival, scheduled for Sunday 29 March.

Following a severe weather system hitting the NSW Coast, we have received direct advice from local authorities and our specialised water safety team. Due to hazardous surf conditions and poor water quality, it has been determined that the environment is unsafe.

While we share your disappointment, the safety of our athletes and water safety personnel is our absolute priority. We simply cannot compromise on your wellbeing.

For all registered athletes: Please check your email for details of next steps. If you registered for the Ocean Swims and did not receive an email, please send us a DM.

We are really saddened to have to make this call, but we thank you for your understanding in keeping our community safe.

We look forward to seeing you back in the water soon.

Helmet check = required before racing 🚴‍♂️

AusTriathlon Technical Officials (TOs) will be checking helmets prior to racing.

At transition entry, please ensure your helmet is on correctly fitted and secured as pictured. You will NOT be let into transition if your helmet is on incorrectly.

✔️ Correct fit:
Side straps sit just under your ears
Chin strap is secure and tightened

❌ Incorrect fit:
Side straps are too loose or need adjustment
Chin strap is loose

Let’s keep things moving smoothly through transition and ensure a safe race for everyone 🙌
