I'm sure you've already seen the sad news that Soyboy are calling it a day. What a great band, and what a weird band.

Truly a sum of their parts, both sonically and visually. So grateful we have bands like this in the world doing something different and sharing it with us. If you haven't listened to their record "Departure" please go enjoy it!

Stoked that Soyboy will be presenting a special "Soyboy & Friends" set on Saturday, April 18th! It will be their 2nd last show, please come give them a send off they deserve.

RSVP: TEN FOR TEN WEEKENDER @ THE HAMO

29/01/2026

Our booking agent Spencer is celebrating ten years of programming live music at The Hamo! For this special occasion, we gave him free reign to put on his own show, and he's come back with TEN FOR TEN: ten sets for ten years here at The Hamilton Station Hotel!

"I can't believe I've been doing the best job in the world for ten years now! To celebrate, I picked ten of my favourite bands from across the state for a massive weekend of shows! The best part, we are raising money for The Hazzy Forever Foundation; a new not-for-profit charity that my friend Tyler (from Luca Brasi) has started to help fight childhood cancer. They're killer lineups AND it's for a good cause - I couldn't be happier!" - Spencer Scott

Night one is an all-Newy lineup, headlined by hardcore punk band Boudicca. It also features Soyboy, fresh off their appearance at Carrodise Festival. Melvic Centre released one of the best punk records of 2025 with Trawler, husband-and-wife indie rock duo The Tryouts will be on the show! Plus, a special appearance from The Shadow Cast - an Americana-tinged collaboration between Lachlan X. Morris and Boots Porter.

Night two is headlined by the one-two punch of Western Sydney rock 'n' roll band Amends, and emo banjo duo Pinch Hitter. Two of Sydney's finest indie singer-songwriters; Max Quinn and Jack R. Reilly are also on the bill. Rounding it out is novocastrian institution Jen Buxton.

About The Hazzy Forever Foundation: "We are a foundation born out of our experience with our best mate Hazzy fighting Neuroblastoma. An extremely aggressive, rare cancer which appears mainly in children 5 and under. We aim to support families suffering through a diagnosis and subsequent treatment of this horrible disease, with a particular focus on support for Tasmanian families. Our other major focus is working to continue building access to cutting edge life saving treatment."

Our ticketing partner Oztix are also lending a hand on this show, donating all of their booking and ticketing fees to The Hazzy Forever Foundation for these two shows.

Hello! Welcome to Toploader. My name is Spencer, you probably know me as the booking agent at The Hamilton Station Hotel. I’ve been booking shows there for nearly ten years now, and I probably booked your band at some point.

I fell in love with live music when I was a weird teenager going to All Ages shows at The Loft Youth Venue whenever I could. The DIY attitude of the punk and hardcore community pushed me to start bands so I could get involved and get on stage. When no one would book my band (very fair, we were not good). I learnt how to book my own shows.

Toploader is mostly a place to show off gigs I’ve booked. But I’ve done a lot of other stuff over the years; I’ve written press releases, interned at triple j, worked at a record store, sold merch, technically won a radio award, I was a guitar tech for Short Stack one time. You get it.

Got some cool shows to announce over the next few weeks, more to come later in the year. Come Hamo, etc. Love you xoxo.
