Now THAT was a Battle! One of the most hotly contested heats we’ve ever seen. The scores were incredibly close. The support from each community…even closer.

Somewhere in amongst all the riffs, the colour, the cheering and the final group shot…that something special happened!

One big celebration of live music, community and connection. How joyful to come together wholeheartedly for a purpose.

🥈 RUNNERS-UP — SOUTHSIDE 2 🥈

Rocking matching purple coats and enough cool to fill the room, THE APPARENTS from Caulfield Junior College proved that sometimes five players are all you need to make a mighty big noise 💜⚡

With one of the most ambitious set lists of the night, these legends took on a serious degree of difficulty and absolutely brought it. Tight rhythms. Rock-solid musicianship. Zero passengers.

And then there were the dance moves… 🕺✨

Because if you’re going to deliver killer tunes, you may as well throw in some impeccable footwork while you’re at it.

Massive congratulations to this seriously talented five-piece on a brilliant runner-up finish. Southside 2 was all the better for having you in it 💜🎸🔥

THE RIPOFFS from Ripponlea Primary have done it again! 🔥

Back-to-back Southside heat champions and, just for good measure, winners of the Most Tickets Sold prize from Rock Academy 🤘

These legends left absolutely nothing in the rehearsal room, bringing a polished, high-octane set of Aussie bangers.

Big vocals. Tight grooves. Huge energy. And a solid commitment to the theme.🇦🇺🎸

From the first note to the final encore-worthy moment, The Ripoffs went all in - and their army of supporters went right there with them.

Eight years on, and something special still happens at every Battle that’s hard to describe.

Call it a vibe, a buzz, a kind of frisson. It’s that moment when the scores don’t matter, the bands stop being rivals, and there’s just CONNECTION.

Through music.

Communities brought together, cheering just as loudly for each other as they do for themselves.

St Kilda Primary’s own PRIMARY SCREAM absolutely brought the house down with a wildly clever curated set of total bangers that had the Prince Bandroom locked in from start to finish 🔥

From Teardrop by Massive Attack to Untouched by The Veronicas, this set was playful, confident, edgy, bold and seriously cool 🎸✨

The crowd LOVED them and we seriously did not envy the judges having to make that call 👀👏

FOUR. STRAIGHT. WINS. 🚨

Port Melbourne Primary’s own THE PORTALS 🛟 have officially done the unthinkable, taking out their FOURTH Battle win and locking in their place at the Corner Final on September 10 🔥

Big anthems. Huge heart. Burning passion. Endless red. Signature dance moves now bordering on folklore. But more than anything else… they brought the mighty RED ARMY ❤️

And honestly, that’s the real magic of this band - a whole school community turning up loud and proud for live music, for each other, and for the next generation of young musos. ❤️✨

Northside 2 Battle at Croxton Bandroom was not your average Thursday night… it was a full-blown, glitter-encrusted, confetti-fuelled, boot-scootin’ explosion of live music synthesis 🎸✨🔥

7 bands.
60 parent musos.
Countless sequins.
At least two doof-doof poles.
And somehow… a pair of jumper leads also made an appearance 😵‍💫

From massive singalongs to dancefloor mayhem, the Croc was absolutely ROCKIN’ on a school night like it was the final set at a music festival 🤘💥

Honestly, there may never be another fusion Thursday quite like it! Thanks for bringing the LOT : Fairfield PS, Merri Creek PS, Thornbury PS, Preston South & Preston West PS, Brunswick South and St Joseph’s PS 🤘🏼

Huge thanks also to Steve, Hannah, Skye and all the awesome crew at the Croxton for hosting us the last two weeks - such an excellent venue to work with. 🙏🏻✨

🥈 RUNNERS-UP — NORTHSIDE 2 🥈

Huge congrats to Merri Creek Primary’s 𝐍𝐎 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒, taking second place in their VERY first year of Battles - and what an unforgettable debut it was 🎤✨

With glitter beards, technicolour chaos and enough joyful energy to power the entire Croxton, these legends delivered an absolutely iconic TV Theme Song set that sent the crowd spiralling straight back to childhood 📺🔥

From Ghostbusters to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Baywatch, The Golden Girls, Home and Away, Round the Twist, Transformers and Degrassi High… it was part gig, part fever dream, part retro dance party - and the Croc LOVED every second of it 🤘💥
