That’s a wrap on the very first Animal Liberation Film Festival!

Congratulations to all of the filmmakers whose powerful, thoughtful and inspiring work lit up the screen — 19 incredible films that sparked reflection, emotion and conversation all weekend.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this festival so special. With hundreds of people attending and a thought-provoking talk by Peter Singer, your energy, curiosity and compassion opened up conversations we hope continue well beyond the cinema.

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers — your hard work, heart and dedication made this festival possible.

We’re so grateful for this community and we can’t wait to see you next year ❤️🎬

Our companion animals are more than family — they’re part of the ALFF volunteer team. From the dogs who keep us grounded, to the birds who brighten our days, to the cats who never miss a chance to make cameos on our volunteer Zoom calls, they inspire us daily.

Their personalities, comfort and presence remind us why we do this work — why stories of empathy, individuality and liberation matter so deeply. They’re our daily motivation and the quiet heroes behind the festival.

Thank you Roxy, Scarlet, Phoenix, Olive, Margot, Ekko, Harry — and all the animals we love. ❤️🐾✨

“Is it just two days of animal cruelty films?”

Short answer: no. 💜

ALFF isn’t about traumatising people for 48 hours straight. It’s a carefully curated mix of documentaries, animations, short films and features that focus on stories – of animals, of the people who care about them, and of what change can look like.

Yes, some films contain confronting scenes – and powerful docos like Earthlings and Dominion have played a huge role in our movement. But ALFF is not a back-to-back line-up of those kinds of films, as important as they are.

At ALFF you’ll find:
• heart-warming rescues and sanctuary stories
• creative shorts, animation and satire
• investigative documentaries with strong narratives

We also provide clear content guidance and a simple “intensity” rating, so you can choose sessions that match your comfort level – and feel confident inviting that friend, partner or family member who’s a bit reluctant about “animal liberation films”.

If you’ve ever thought, “I care about animals, but I’m not sure I can handle it”… ALFF was designed with you in mind.
