Capoeira Brasil Melbourne - Team Javali Capoeira Brasil Melbourne delivers capoeira classes for kids, teens, and adults. A Brazilian art form infusing sports and culture.

Our mission is to develop and share capoeira in the CBD and the northern suburb. Capoeira is a physical and mental expression of grace, strength, perseverance, and character in a harmonious dialogue. The capoeira game consists of a series of agile, acrobatic and martial movements, interconnected to form a unified body conversation. This physical, dialogue full of grace and strategy is held within

the roda , the circle in which manifest a form of game between two capoeiristas (practitioners of the discipline). The roda is headed by the orchestra of instruments (bataria) that creates the mood, and by songs that tell stories of passion, love, difficulties of fighting and friendships. The capoeiristas enter the roda at the foot of the berimbau, a sign of respect. These games are a complex exchange of blows that can be direct and/ circular, dodges, sweeps, takedowns and acrobatic movements.

Head teacher Javali is away in New Caledonia participating in a Capoeira event "International Capoeira Festival CBNC" for the next 2 weeks.

Classes at the YMCA Macleod are cancelled on 3rd, 5th, 10th and 12th December 2024.
