here at Our Bowling Club, it’s the place to be. Coatesville applied to an area formerly occupied by market gardens and poultry farms, located around the Coatesville Primary School in East Bentleigh. It was named in 1955 after Leslie Robert Coates, ( Moorabbin Council & Aus.Labor Party MLA)
The area had a large area of war service homes. The bowls club, school, post office still carry the name

VALE: John (skewsy) Skewis

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our much-loved Lawn Bowls member, John “Skewsy” Skewis, on Friday 22nd May 2026.

Skewsy was a valued and cherished member of our club, whose friendship, warmth, humour, and love of lawn bowls touched so many of us. He was more than just a teammate — he was a friend, a familiar face, and an important part of our club family.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with John's wife Flora, family and loved ones during this very difficult time.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and fondly remembered both on and off the green.

Rest peacefully, Skewsy. 💙

The last of our Club Championships Fours was played today. Unfortunately some original members Sue Lewis and Steve Doherty were unable to play so we had some substitutes take there places. Thank you John Grundy and Kath Still for filling in.
It was a tough slow game to start 1, 1, 1 and at one stage there was only 1 point the difference in score.

Cogratularions to the Winners on the final Score 16-11.

(Sue Lewis- Birthday Girl abscent)

Runners Up: George Genovezos, Leigh Sutterby, Daryl Avery, Kath Still (Steve Doherty-abscent)

A fantastic contest in the 100 Up Proportional Singles Grand Final at Coatesville Bowling Club. A great display of skill, consistency, and sportsmanship with quality bowls played throughout the match.

Congratulations to Greg Wallace on a well-earned victory, defeating George Genovezos 100–80 in an excellent final. Well done to George for a strong performance all the way through the competition.

Thank you to our Marker Tom Milbourne for volunteering your time for the game. Thanks to those who came down to support.

Any parents out there looking for a Sport for there Under 18's. Come along on Monday 13th April and check it out. Coatesville will happily accept them into our club

The Sandbelt Board, along with the Junior Development Committee, are excited to announce the relaunch of the 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗯𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗱 🙌🏻🐬

Formerly the Bayside Dolphins, it's been a number of years since our region has had an active junior squad, but not any more - we now have a passtionate committee, determined to grow, nurture and develop junior bowlers and participation in the Sandbelt region.

We're kicking off the relaunch next month, at Chadstone Bowls Club, with a combined information and training session. So we're calling all parents and juniors in the region to get involved and come along. Players and parents attending will have the opportunity to be involved with the planning of future sessions, locations and schedule/session times, so we encourage all interested families to come along. All ages and abilities welcome, up to 18 years (older siblings also welcome to participate in sesssions).

The Sandbelt Dolphins is a junior pathway program, providing members the opportunity to represent Sandbelt at U18 State events and be considered for Victorian U18 State Team trials.

We ask that you register via email to assist with planning:
