Surf Lifesaving’s loss is triathlon’s gain in !
After a shoulder injury meant she was no longer able to paddle, she lined up in her first full Ironman in Cairns having the race of her life finishing 6th in the 25-29 AG and qualifying for Kona!
Following coach Liz’s advice, Cat took the swim very relaxed aiming not to spend any unnecessary energy. Onto the bike she was able to overcome some significant mechanical issues with a calm head including some MacGyver type maneuvers involving hair ties and saddle bolts!
“The run was honestly so good for me. It’s an absolute weakness that I’ve been working so hard on and so to run that pace for a marathon off the bike is crazy to me. I felt mostly comfortable the entire run and really enjoyed it.”
Congratulations Cat and coach , we couldn’t be happier for you!
