While the Philippines has been an independent republic since 1898, we, the Filipino people still do not consider ourselves totally free. We would all like to envision a future where we are free from poverty, external threats, corruption, and any other social disease that has crippled our nation in the past. With a view to total freedom for the Filipino
people, we would like to support a charity that promotes sustainability in third-world nations, by helping build resilient communities, and supporting ability to respond to and recover quickly from disasters. The Australian Red Cross is a charity foundation that’s well-known and well-respected all throughout Australia and all over the world, and embodies the core values of freedom and resilience that Filipinos represent. On May 30, 2015, members of the community in Brisbane are commemorating 117 years of Philippine Independence early with a celebration of community, talent, and goodwill. We are organising a musical event that features a number of local artists who show their support and agreed to perform. Event details are as follows:
