Pasties and beam engines aren’t the only things the Cornish brought to Australia - their folklore came with them too.

Tales of Knockers, Spriggans and, of course, mischievous Piskeys can be found wherever the Cornish left their mark.

For last year’s festival Kernewek Lowender Festival, organist Ron Newton travelled all the way from New Zealand (where he regularly performs at Dunedin Cathedral) to play at the historic Moonta Mines Methodist Church for the festival Organ Recital.

He was assisted by local organist Daryl Parker, who has also performed on this organ, and accompanied by two talented, young musicians studying Bachelors of Music at the University of Adelaide.

The recital drew a large audience, with people travelling from as far as Cornwall!

We’d love to hear your favourite memories of the Moonta Mines Methodist Church below 👇🏻
