Dear Taekwondo Community,
On behalf of adidas | Combat League Australia, it is with great pleasure to share with you the official winners of the Best Male Kyorugi and Best Female Kyorugi trophies for each Court on the weekend at the adidas | Combat League Australia NSW Championship Round #1.
Court 1
Best Male Kyorugi
Competitor: Brayden Zhu
Club: Irontiger Taekwondo
Brayden was in multiple divisions and fought hard with 2-3 fights in each division and he won 2 of the divisions.
Court 1
Best Female Kyorugi
Competitor: Jorja Pender
Club: Irontiger Taekwondo
Jorja won her matches in the most competitive female division and fought back-to-back matches with no time to rest in between.
Court 2
Best Male Kyorugi
Competitor: Jacob Ramos
Club: Kyu Taekwondo
Jacob won in the biggest division of the tournament and had multiple matches and won against his opponent who won 2 fights in a row to get to the final.

Best Female Kyorugi
Competitor: Sabina De Robertis
Club: Forza Taekwondo
Sabina won in a very competitive, multi-fight division and had to make it through to the semis to secure the win in her division.

Best Male Kyorugi
Competitor: Mikele Chironi
Club: Pinnacle Martial Arts Academy
Mikele displayed courage and fought hard in his division with multiple fights and took home the gold, making him part of a team of 5 fighters from one club to all win gold.

Best Female Kyorugi
Competitor: Layla Malicdem
Club: Taya Taekwondo
Layla displayed determination and fighting spirit and won in a secondary division match and secured the win in one of the biggest female divisions for cadets!

Best Male Kyorugi
Competitor: Zac Cao
Club: Taya Taekwondo
Zac won gold in the weight division above his primary division and also won in the semis and finals in a weight division above. He lost in the quarter finals of his primary division and fought two more fights in the weight division above and won the gold.

Best Female Kyorugi
Competitor: Yalda Hussiani
Club: Red Dragon Taekwondo
Yalda was the smallest female athlete from her club to compete and won the gold and was one of two from her club to take home the gold on the day.

Best Club in Poomsae! …not only did these dedicated and hard working students practice and perfect their demonstration routine opening the tournament for our viewing pleasure, they quickly jumped into their competition uniforms and got ready for tournament action for the rest of the day, participating in both Kyorugi and Poomsae events!
Best Club Poomsae 2nd Place
Club: Power With Purpose
Following in 2nd place as the best Club in Poomsae was Power With Purpose who worked very hard to develop their team and put on great performances on the day (not only in Poomsae). Master Matt and his team supported the event and worked hard to get his team ready for the day and it showed.
Best Club Sparring 1st Place
Club: Irontiger
Taking the lead with 17 wins, 15 losses amounting to 10 Gold, 7 Silver and 6 Bronze and the 1st place for the Best Club Sparring goes to Irontiger. Thank you for your dedication, commitment and unwavering support of our grassroots athlete development, your club made a difference to the event and we look forward to seeing you at Round #2.
Best Club Sparring 2nd place
Club: Taya Taekwondo
Arriving in second place with 18 wins, 12 losses amounting to 9 Gold, 9 Silver and 2 Bronze and the 2nd place for the Best Club Sparring goes to Taya Taekwondo. Thank you also for your dedication, commitment and unwavering support of our grassroots athlete development, you are appreciated to no end and we look forward to seeing you at Round #2.
Exceptional Performance Award
Club: Pinnacle Martial Arts
5 young fighters all won gold in their respective divisions, that is 5 Gold out of 5 Athletes! A Blue belt winning in the Red Belt division in his first time doing head kicks, also first timers winning Gold as well – an outstanding achievement for our next generation of young athletes.
We will arrange to send out all trophies by next week and ask the winners to take a photo holding your trophies (and medals) posing with your coaches and we will post it to our social media for all to celebrate with you and your clubs and share your great achievements with everyone in our Taekwondo community.
Thanking all Clubs, Masters, Coaches, Parents, Students and Spectators for supporting, participating and getting behind not only our mission to develop and grow our grassroots talent pool to some day go onto becoming state, national and international champions but also believing in us to host regular, high quality, safe and fair events for young athletes to gain invaluable mat time, experience competition sport Taekwondo in a positive light, allowing these young athletes to prepare for more tougher competitions ahead of them in the future and providing families a fun and exciting day out!
An extra special thank you from the bottom of our hearts goes to our wonderful and dedicated volunteers from SGMA. Volunteering, officiating, competing – the sheer hours devoted to put on these events is unimaginable but our family of volunteers roll up their sleeves each and every time and make it happen all for the love of the next generation of Taekwondo superstars!
An extra special thankyou goes out to the following wonderful human beings for putting in some serious hours (days) for the greater good of our events:
Ms Emily Mason, Ms Athena Yannakis, Mr Jad Dargham, Mr Tony Gardiner, Mr Rabee Geagea and Master Dale Bryce! You guys deserve full credit and recognition for making our events come together on the day and literally sweating and working behind the scenes to make our events the best they can be!
