Quick 'n' Dirty Boat Building Challenge Build a boat in three hours! Take up our challenge at the MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival 6-9 February 2015. www.facebook.com/AWBFestival.

Description

Day 1 - Saturday 7 February - The boat building challenge starts at 1.00pm and finishes at 3.00pm
Day 2 - Sunday 8 February - Decorating the boats from 9.00am to 5.00pm
Day 3 - Monday 9 February - The boats will be judged at 1.00pm then the teams carry their vessels in a parade from the Q 'n' D arena to Constitution Dock and the race starts at 2.30. Prizes on offer

There are prizes

for:
• Fastest boat to be built
• Best designed boat
• Best decorated boat
• Race winner
• Best sandwich board design



Building materials

The festival supplies the cane, timber laths, rope, cable ties, wood for oars and mast, canvas for the hull, calico for the sail and a large sandwich board for team information and 'branding'. The festival also supplies tee shirts, hats and sun screen and PFDs for the race. What teams need to bring

Tools, plans, jigs and templates, saw horses, acrylic paint and brushes, drop sheets, hats and a bicycle helmet for each team member. Contact Details
