City & Country Raising Buck$ Fundraiser Luncheon and Feature Bullride at The Ekka

We couldn’t fund incredible, life-changing research without the support of our generous community. Recently the Curr family held an amazing event in Brisbane with 600 of their closest friends and raised $697,990 for a cure for paralysis!

This incredible event brought people from across Queensland together. It was MC’d by Ben Dobbin and guests enjoyed incredible speakers including the formidable and talented Wayne Bennett; former Wallabies coach, John "Knuckles" Connolly; renowned expert in performance under stress, Dr Jemma King; and Matthew Cardinaels CSM, who served as a commando for 18 years.

The crowd was entertained by none other than James Blundell as well as Australia’s top bull riders!

With the incredible announcement from the Premier of QLD Health commitment of $2M - It certainly was a memorable event and we are so grateful to everyone who attended and raised funds for research! 💚🙌

The final numbers are in and we are proud to announce the official amount raised on the day was $358,890, and with matching from Andrew and Nicola Forrest, the final total was brought to $697,990!

This is in addition to the $2,000,000 grant from QLD Health, which was announced by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk MP at the event. We are so grateful to each and every person involved who has supported this great cause so generously.

These funds raised have been donated directly to the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation, to be put towards the commencement of the ground-breaking Cell Transplantation and Rehabilitation Human Clinical Trial being led by Professor James St John at the Clem Jones Centre for Neurobiology and Stem Cell Research at Griffith University.

The foundation is now closer than ever to commencing their world-first human clinical trial and a cure for paralysis, thanks to the support of our community.

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible support and generosity of everyone involved in the event and we can’t thank you all enough.

We would like to sincerely thank our 600 guests, sponsors, bidders, donors, guest speakers, bull riders and volunteers for coming together to make City & Country Raising Buck$ a huge success. We are absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible support and generosity of everyone involved.

We are still finalising the exact amount of money raised on Wednesday, but are very proud to announce that the total amount was in excess of $300,000! Andrew and Nicola Forrest have offered to MATCH every single dollar raised on the day, an incredibly generous gesture! So, with their support we can confirm that the total is more than $600,000 going to directly to the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation!

To top it off, we were honoured to have Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk MP attend the event to announce that Queensland Health will be giving a $2 million grant to the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation.

The foundation is now closer than ever to commencing their world-first human clinical trial and a cure for paralysis.

Again, we are overwhelmed by the support from our community on the day and we can’t thank you all enough.
