Literary Lounge – Eats Eumundi

This year Eats Eumundi will be the location of the festival Literary Lounge on Friday 4/9/26 and Sunday 6/9/26. The Lounge will include the follow activities and EOIs will be called soon.

A Co-writing event that will connect you to writers in their creative space and time globally

Showcasing areas for you to promote your work including Meet the Author and Illustrator tables operating Friday and Sunday

Illustrators Exhibition space

Break-out areas to meet and share ideas and advice

Business development advice and details of related festival workshops

We also again hope to offer mentoring and pitching opportunities and are finalising details before inviting submissions.

Things are hotting up and we are now seeking a range of volunteers. This festival is all about involvement so please put your hand up and follow this link to apply. Volunteers had a lot of fun last year with free entry to events and festival celebrations and opportunities to meet the presenters first-hand. Roles are limited. CALL FOR PRESENTERS

The Eumundi Writers Festival program is coming together quickly but we have a little wiggle room to squeeze in a few more events before we close off to Expressions of Interest 10am Monday 18/5/26. If you are a presenter of the following type of events within the festival theme of “The Human Condition”, please get in contact.

· “In Conversation” sessions
· Workshops
· Other potential activities

Festival Theme

The Eumundi Writers Festival 2026 will take audiences on a journey of thoughts and ideas that deeply explore the human condition. We invite authors and readers to look at what it is to be human at the most challenging of times - in war, in love, through family ties and through crime stories. The Human Condition is more than biology. It includes reason and intellect, consciousness and self-awareness, creativity and imagination, sociality and community, and the capacity for empathy and moral responsibility. Together they explain what you did in that defining moment and why.

The festival aims to take you into another realm to explore the uniqueness and importance of the “human-to-human” connection through words, something that Artificial Intelligence cannot achieve.

2026 Stella Nominee Festival Highlight!

One of our amazing authors will be Laura Jean McKay who was shortlisted for the prestigious Stella Prize in 2021 for her highly acclaimed novel, The Animals in That Country. The book, which features a pandemic that allows humans to communicate with animals, was also recognized by many other major awards. Laura has written widely including about animals - human and more-than-human. Keep posted for more details.
