🐴 WHAT A WEEKEND! | MFSR CHALLENGE CLINIC
What a fantastic weekend we had at the MFSR Challenge Clinic!
We were treated to perfect Upper Murray spring days, topped off with a beautiful evening around the fire listening to the wonderful tunes of Danny Phegan. 🎶🔥 and enjoying delicious pizzas cooked by the MFSR team, utilising the fantastic pizza trailer supplied by Upper Murray Party Hub. 🍕 A pretty special way to finish off a big day of learning, riding and catching up with great people!
Across the weekend we welcomed 54 riders across our Stripling, Junior and Novice sections, supported by an incredible 17 instructors who generously shared their knowledge, skills and experience, with 11 of those instructors being MFSR finalists!
Saturday saw competitors work through all of the preliminary Challenge events, giving everyone the opportunity to learn, ask questions and build their skills across each discipline.
Sunday was then all about further practice, allowing competitors to focus on the areas they personally wanted to improve before wrapping up the weekend with a fantastic Finals discussion giving competitors the opportunity to tap into expert knowledge and experiences with Brad Pierce and our current MFSR Open Champion, Daryl Baines.
A weekend like this simply doesn’t happen without a lot of people giving their time and support, so we have some very special thank-yous:
👏 Snags McKimmie for getting the arenas looking absolutely amazing.
🐮 The Sheather family for their generous donation of cattle for the weekend.
🐴 JC Milton for their generous donation towards the shoeing section.
🤠 Our 17 amazing instructors who gave up their time to support the sport of Stockman’s Challenge and pass their knowledge and experience on to the next generation of competitors — we cannot thank you enough.
❤️ A very special thank you to the family members of competitors who jumped in wherever they were needed, helping cook the BBQ, clean up and lend a hand throughout the weekend. It’s those extra sets of hands behind the scenes that help make weekends like this possible.
We also have to acknowledge just how fortunate we are to have such a fantastic facility at the Corryong Recreation Reserve. It is an incredible community asset that allows us to host weekends like this and is a space that so many Corryong sporting and community groups are lucky enough to benefit from throughout the year. Having facilities like these right here in our small community is something we can all be very proud of.
And lastly, a huge congratulations and thank you to every competitor who came along eager to learn, improve and take in everything they possibly could.
Weekends like this are incredibly special. Seeing competitors supporting one another, experienced horsemen and women passing on their knowledge, and our Challenge community coming together is exactly what it is all about.
The MFSR is incredibly proud to support the growth and future of the Stockman’s Challenge, and judging by the enthusiasm we saw this weekend, that future is looking very bright.
📸 Thank you to David Cottee for capturing the weekend!
