When Storm Riders hit screens in the early ’80s, it didn’t just show waves — it revealed a dream. Lagundri Bay, Nias, went from a whisper among travelers to a global surf icon. Four decades on, its perfect right-handers still define the magic of discovery. 🌊

The 14th annual Soundboks Oz Grom Open, hosted by Le-Ba Boardriders, has wrapped up as another incredible success — and it simply wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our community, partners, and volunteers.

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the NSW Government and Destination NSW for recognising the importance of this not-for-profit event and backing its future through the Regional Event Fund.

This support allows us to keep investing directly into junior development, enhancing the overall event experience, and creating pathways for the next generation of surfers to compete on both national and international stages.

At its heart, the Oz Grom Open is about more than surfing. It’s about confidence, friendship, and community spirit. With this funding, we can continue to strengthen Le-Ba and ensure Lennox Head remains home to one of the world’s leading junior surfing competitions for years to come.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the parents, volunteers, and local supporters who gave their time to make this year’s event possible. Together, we are building something lasting — investing back into our youth, our sport, and our region — which remains the core of Le-Ba’s mission as a proud not-for-profit organisation.

The screening of Maps to Nowhere brought together local surf fans and film lovers for an easygoing and intimate evening with fun behind-the-scenes insights. ⚡️

With a live Q&A from SOLI BAILEY, Michael Crispy, and Rob Bain, with standout footage featuring Caity Simmers and epic barrels from Jordy Smith.

Big thanks to everyone who joined us at Lennox Hotel — a great way to come together during the comp week to share in the stories that fuel the surf community.

Appreciation to Surfline and O'Neill and all involved in making the Soundboks Australia Oz Grom Open week long event happen.
