📚 Announcing the first author and event for Adelaide Writers’ Week 2027! Join us on the opening night of AF27 for An Evening with Min Jin Lee, Fri 26 Feb at Adelaide Town Hall.
Director Rosemarie Milsom writes of the announcement - “I am so excited to see Adelaide Writers’ Week returning in 2027 and to be part of shaping this much-loved festival. I appreciate just how much this yearly celebration of the written word means to our wonderful communities of readers and writers.
It feels particularly fitting that award-winning writer Min Jin Lee will open our week of conversations next year. I have admired the ambition and humanity of her writing for many years and ‘Pachinko’ remains one of my favourite books. Her new novel, ‘American Hagwon’, again demonstrates her remarkable ability to illuminate the forces that shape our lives - family, identity, and the search for belonging. I’m thrilled that Adelaide audiences will have the opportunity to hear from her.
As we head towards 2027, I'm aware of the importance of rebuilding trust with all our supporters. I've been listening carefully and have approached the program with a genuine openness to different ideas and experiences. Strong storytelling is what inspires me as a reader - and a curator. In the coming months we’ll be announcing an extraordinary line-up of Australian and international writers, and I can't wait to welcome you all back to the Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden.”
